President’s Message

“Education gives the wings to bring the necessary change & development in our society.” – Shri . Hemuji Channusingh Chandele

Our institute was established in the year 1994 in the memory of Late Freedom Fighter Bhai Chhannusingh Chandele who had an unparalleled contribution in the freedom movement of our country, India. His life, teachings and messages have inspired many through several generations. From a very young age I have witnessed my father’s struggle for the betterment & upliftment of our society. Under his guidance I selflessly got engaged in social welfare. After Bhaiji’s death, Bhai Channusingh Chandele Trust was formed in 1986 with the support of his companions & followers. The Trust primarily started volunteering with healthcare centres in slum areas and is till date providing unpaid medical services to the underprivileged. Every year lecture series are organised on collective issues (National, International, Social) by the subject experts and is considered as one of the renowned lecture series in Maharashtra. College of social work was then established with the purpose of continuing to serve the society and to spread awareness regarding professional social work culture.

President
Bhai Channusingh Chandele Memorial Trust, Solapur

The aim of our institute is to provide learning with excellence and to develop efficient social workers to serve the nation. The foundation of the trust lies in empowerment of community through better understanding of human behaviour and its interaction, socially, economically and culturally. Principles, values and skills are initially obtained through formal education in social work schooling. Holistic approach in this educational system builds character, and thus enables learners to become ethical, rational, compassionate and empathetic. At the same time, it prepares them for gainful and fulfilling employment. The core values of social work profession all over the world, are to uphold the dignity of every person and every person’s right to self-determination, equality, freedom and justice. Besides this, within India, the profession is naturally influenced by the values considered important in the Indian societies. Thus, there is need of trained and qualified social workers, counsellors and researchers to raise awareness about such critical social issues and to formulate the futuristic policies.

I express my gratitude towards all the people who supported to bring my thoughts into actions by formation of this trust and college. Our respectable members of the management, our teachers and non-teaching staff owe it to the students and their parents.

My best wishes for the students and alumni for their future endeavours.
Jai Hind.
