About Our College
The trust established Bhai Chhannusingh Chandele College of Social Work in 1994, with the ideology of Bhaiji’ who inspired to help and educate the poor and needy people belonging from rural area as well as urban area and to train and develop social workers in our country with professional social work skills . Trust’s objective was to uplift the society by providing various services. The Trust’s lecture series is famous in Maharashtra which is held every year. Prominent orators from Maharashtra and Country attended the series and delivered the lectures on various issues particularly secularism, labor, women, national integrity etc. Trust’s realized the need of training of professional social work and started the social work college in 1994. At the beginning the college was affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. From the establishment of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Solapur in 2004 the college has got affiliation with it.
From the beginning the college gave admission on the basis of merit. Various curricular and extracurricular activities are being effectively implemented through various committees for the overall development of students. The College is engaged in developing professional social workers. College is delivering effective knowledge, empowering skills, and unique techniques for developing professional attitude and aptitude in youths of our country who are interested to pursue their career in the area of professional social work. The college is committed to the task of developing civic consciousness and a sense of social responsibility in the students. The curriculum has a broad sweep which helps the student to develop a holistic and ecological perspective. Classroom learning is reinforced and enriched through Social Work Practicum where students learn through first-hand experience and MSW Final year students have research project work which develops an understanding about the scientific approach.
It also builds humble attitude, use of library and documentation and acquire the skills for data analyses and research writing. The college strives to provide socially relevant education, whereby it moulds not only “professionals”, but also responsible citizens of the country. The college have legacy of merit, as students secure place in university merit list every year. The institution has fully qualified faculty members as per UGC rules and regulations. The college has signed many MoUs with the different GOs, Industries and NGOs for the holistic development of the students through field exposure and learning.
The institution provides experiences in the field through social camps and different social awareness programs, through field visits, students get knowledge and experience in urban social life and professional social work intervention also in industry.
The college provides ample infrastructure like classroom with IT facilities, a resourceful library, and a computer lab with Wi-Fi facility, an individual / common counseling, seminar hall, boy’s hostel, a girl’s common room with needful facilities and parking.
